It Could be a tale of two cities. A culinary story which links food on a ‘ common’ mans plate. Something which is fast, popular and all day. Enter the concept of the Café Tato, both in Panaji and Margao. They are fast, popular with office. Goers, lawyers and so on in these two cities and are also a popular, all day pure vegetarian eatery. The Overall seating arrangement is quite cramped in the old time café, but a revelation of the days gone by when people rubbed shoulders with each other as they enjoyed their food. Their menu showcases old favourites Puri Bhaji with its Goan style potato Sukhi Bhaji, Patal Bhaji or a mixture of two different bhajis. And with the fast paced change that is needed to address hunger pangs at lunch time, they have a Goan style Vegetarian Thali which consists of sol kadi, rice, curd, dal, vegetables and pickle and plain rice. Also, the Goan Cashew Special vegetable is recommended. The North Indian offerings include Chhole Masala and Plain Dal average stuff. There are others to try: Prawn Risoi, Goan style Dumplings, Pork Chilli Fry and Roast Chicken. End the meal and even otherwise, with milk shakes, juices, cold coffees and ice creams. Try Custard Apple Shake. The Margao outlet is a fine.
