They say that the best part of everything (including the pattice or a sandwich) is what is inside. The creamy or the spicy filling that adds zest to every bite. Now there are times when you might want to have something to nibble on; not too heavy but just enough to tide over the luncheon hours. Take a look at Cremeux, a place for gourmet cakes and pastries opened by Chef Vincent Dias. A small place for sitting and you get an eyeful of what is on offer in the display counters. The Steak and Onion Sandwich is grilled hot before being served to you crisp crunchy bread with a thin silver of succulent meat topped with browned onion juliennes. Pleasure in every bite.
The Chicken and Oregano Panini is also a strong favourite. The combination of chicken and oregano smoothly sandwiched in the Panini makes great elevenses with a cup of Nescafe. Come lunch the delicatessen serves a few salads. The Oriental Chicken Salad is worth a mention. But it is the pastries and desserts that have created a ‘niche’ for Vincent. The chocolate Hazelnut, Banana Cinnamon Cake, Chocolate FUDGE Cookies are great cakes for great price. As far as the name goes, Cremeux means creamy in French… it is the filling inside that matters. They remain closed on Sundays.
