DBC-Panjim Excels in GU’s Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament

Both men’s and women’s badminton teams

The Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament, organized by Goa University’s sports section, took place from August 5 to 8, 2025, at the SAG Indoor Stadium in Campal, Panjim. A total of 45 colleges participated in the men’s section, while 39 colleges represented the women’s section, highlighting the significant interest and participation of women’s teams in the event.

In the men’s section, Don Bosco College’s Panjim badminton team demonstrated impressive skills and sportsmanship. The team consisted of Kaushik, Abner, Abhishek, Siddharth, Swaraj, Sajid, and Krishna. Their campaign began with a convincing 3-0 win against Goa College of Agriculture, showcasing strong team dynamics and strategic gameplay. They then defeated Government College Sanquelim 3-1, further solidifying their position. The team navigated the pre-quarterfinals with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Damodar College and dominated PES College Pharmacy 3-0 in the quarterfinals. Although they lost to Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda 2-3 in the semifinals, the men’s team showcased remarkable talent and resilience, ultimately securing third place in the tournament.

In the women’s section, Don Bosco College’s badminton team made a strong impression. The team consisted of Blessica, Aniella, Natalia, and Neola. They began with a 2-1 win against Ganpat Parsekar College, demonstrating competitive spirit and teamwork. The team emerged victorious against Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda 2-1 in the pre-quarterfinals and defeated GVM’s College Farmagudi 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Although they lost to P.G. Goa University Taeligao 0-2 in the semifinals, the women’s team displayed great potential and sportsmanship, ultimately securing third place in the tournament.

Both the men’s and women’s teams secured third place in their respective categories, showcasing the college’s strong badminton program.
