It’s small, it’s informal it’s a place to relax and sample local and continental cuisine. It’s called Firefly and Donavan Vaz has termed it a Goan Bistro. From the simple tiled roof to the open airy feeling, it lives up to its definition of limited food and informality – it’s a Bistro experience. It is important for every restaurant to design its menu based on the capability of the chef. And Donavan has done just that. Continental and Goan are his trumps. Start with the Chicken Liver Pate… very tasty. The Firefly Prawns is another ‘conti’ innovation…it is a preparation which could even grace a gourmet’s meal. Fish Fingers with the mayo accompaniment is highly recommended. For the mains – Fish Amotik, Vegetable Caldin and Prawn Curry Rice are Goan-styled recommendations. His piece de resistance is the BBQ Pork Ribs. Accompanied with Potato Wedges and Baby Corn…it’s yummy and one of the fastest moving items. The desserts too have some great choices…the Chickoo Mousse and Serra Dura…very tasty, but need some reworking. For a new entrant, Firefly is making all the right moves. We would like to see it flit away into the future with its glows still remaining to light up the culinary world.
