What began as two college friends turning everyday conversations and observations into comedy has grown into a recognisable digital identity rooted in Goan life. Maar Zai Tuka, the content-creation duo of Roshani Ramesh Marathe and Prathamesh Pradeep Shirodkar, has built its presence around relatable humour, local expressions and situations familiar to young Goans.

Roshani, a graduate of Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, has a strong interest in storytelling, editing, acting and advertising, while Prathamesh brings his energy to scripting, shooting and performance. He also enjoys painting, drawing and football. Together, their friendship forms the foundation of a creative partnership centred on entertaining people through everyday humour.

From a Childhood Dream to a Shared Identity

The journey began with Roshani’s childhood dream of becoming an influencer. After initially creating content on her personal page, she decided to explore comedy with Prathamesh. The name Maar Zai Tuka comes from a familiar Goan expression used when friends, couples or youngsters become annoyed, playful or dramatic.

The phrase felt naturally suited to their vision of creating something local and relatable. What began without any clear expectations gradually became more than an Instagram page. As their audience grew, Maar Zai Tuka evolved into their identity and brand.

Finding Humour in Everyday Life

Maar Zai Tuka draws comedy from familiar experiences such as relationship arguments, friendship drama, family expectations, college life and Goan slang. Rather than creating overly exaggerated characters, the duo portrays personalities and situations that audiences already recognise, making their content feel close to real life.

Their use of Konkani-English dialogue, real locations and a raw presentation adds to the authenticity. While their Goan perspective gives the reels a distinct identity, the situations remain universal enough to connect with audiences beyond Goa. Their ideal response from a viewer is simple: seeing a reel and thinking, “This literally happens with me.”

Inspiration All Around Them

For the duo, content ideas can emerge from almost anywhere. Everyday conversations, arguments between friends, family interactions, couples and observations of people around them often provide the starting point. Sometimes, a funny line during a casual conversation is enough for them to decide that it belongs in a reel.

Their followers are another important source of inspiration. Viewers regularly suggest topics and share personal experiences, which Roshani and Prathamesh sometimes transform into humorous scenes. This interaction helps keep their content grounded in situations their audience genuinely understands.

A Creative Partnership Built on Friendship

Having been friends since college, the duo works together with a natural understanding. Roshani generally handles planning and editing, develops concepts and focuses on structure, expressions, timing and captions. She also follows trends and looks for ways to give them a distinct Goan interpretation.

Prathamesh contributes to scripting, performance, camera work, shooting and lighting. However, their roles remain flexible, with either one taking the lead depending on the concept. Their ability to openly critique ideas, experiment and laugh through disagreements keeps their creative process collaborative.

From One Phone to a Growing Brand

Maar Zai Tuka started with zero followers, one phone and the ambition to make people laugh. The early months involved learning editing, experimenting with different formats and discovering what connected with viewers. One of their first reels crossing 50,000 views became a major encouragement to continue.

Recognition from viewers and their first brand collaboration with Estylo Salon became further milestones. However, their journey also brought challenges. Around a year in, their Instagram page was shadow banned for three months, causing a sharp decline in reach and followers. Rather than giving up, they responded by launching a YouTube channel featuring challenges, pranks and vlogs, allowing them to explore long-form storytelling and build another audience.

Authenticity at the Core

Authenticity remains one of the most important aspects of their content. Roshani and Prathamesh avoid making their reels feel overly polished or forced, choosing instead to recreate moments that could genuinely happen in everyday life. Their natural conversations and recognisable situations allow viewers to see their own experiences reflected on screen.

This connection is evident in the way audiences tag friends, share videos and describe their reels as relatable. For Maar Zai Tuka, comedy is therefore not simply about getting laughs; it is about turning familiar experiences into moments that viewers can recognise as their own.

Storytelling First, Promotion Second

Brand collaborations have become part of their journey, but the duo believes promotional content should still feel entertaining. They first understand the brand, product or service before developing a storyline that incorporates it naturally rather than making the advertisement feel separate from the reel.

This is especially important when working with local businesses. Their aim is not simply to promote a name but to communicate what makes the business special while retaining the humour and personality their audience expects.

Looking Beyond Goa

Roshani and Prathamesh hope to expand Maar Zai Tuka while exploring opportunities in acting, music videos and reality shows. They are also interested in working with larger national brands, particularly across travel, food, technology and fashion.

Their larger ambition is to take their work beyond Goa and represent the state on a wider platform. They hope to be part of larger campaigns within and outside the region while establishing themselves as creators who can bring a Goan perspective to audiences across India.

Learning to Grow Without Losing Their Identity

One of their biggest lessons has been that consistency matters more than a single viral video. While trends can help creators reach new audiences, the duo believes they should be adapted rather than followed blindly. Their approach is to give popular formats their own Maar Zai Tuka twist.

Their experience with fluctuating views, negative comments and the Instagram shadowban has also taught them not to measure their worth solely through numbers. Instead, they focus on patience, consistency and continuing to improve.

Life Beyond the Camera

Away from content creation, both enjoy travelling, exploring new places, meeting people and going on hikes. They also enjoy capturing small moments during their trips and creating memories along the way. Prathamesh continues to have a strong interest in football and animals.

These interests also feed into their creative outlook, keeping them connected to the people, places and everyday experiences that often inspire their content.

A Future Built on Consistency

The duo’s goal is to grow Maar Zai Tuka into something larger than a social media page while retaining its relatability and organic character. They plan to expand their YouTube presence and explore other platforms, collaborations and creative opportunities.

Their journey from two friends with a phone to a growing digital brand has been shaped by persistence, experimentation and a willingness to overcome setbacks. Whatever comes next, they want Maar Zai Tuka to remain what it has always been: a little piece of everyday Goan life that makes people laugh.
