The State Police Department has submitted a mega proposal to the Goa Government which will further cut down the area of several police stations and sub-divisional offices. This is to ensure better policing in the state.

Goa Police proposed a major demarcation of its jurisdiction by proposing to create eight new sub-divisional offices and several other police stations across the state.

“The detailed proposal has been submitted to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar who has reacted positively towards it. We would be redrawing the limits of certain police stations and creating additional sub divisional offices in a phased manner,” said Superintendent of Police (HQ) Vishram Borkar.

The proposal submitted to the state government has prioritized the creation of sub divisional offices -at Anjuna, Pernem, Maina-Curtorim and Colva- and new police stations at Mardol, Shiroda, Navelim, Aldona, Colvale and Fatorda. A new police station at Arpora and Benaulim are also proposed. The various stations demarcated depend upon the work pressure for each police station.

“There are some police stations which cover vast areas and work pressure is more. Similar is the case with the Sub Divisional Police Officer rank,” said Borkar.

If the police department receives a nod of approval from the Goa Government for their expansion proposal, it will make their job much easier and crime will hopefully be a thing of the past.
