Former Haryana Minister, Gopal Kanda’s boat is grounded on a sandbar near Aguada Bay. It is said that a few crew members were injured.

The offshore casino vessel ‘MV Lucky 7’ was being brought to River Mandovi to reach its destination off Campal.

The vessel had departed from Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) jetty on Friday morning but could not reach the original site due to rough weather.

It had anchored for the night between Cabo Raj Niwas and Aguada lighthouse.

However, it made an attempt to move towards the actual location. But unfortunately, a tug boat rope broke which caused injuries to the crew members in the vessel.

“Fortunately there were no major injuries,” an officer said adding, “Another attempt will be made to tow the vessel on Sunday during the high tide.”

Four crew members have been rescued while twelve are still onboard. If sources are to be believed, they said the firm’s management had ignored the Port’s Administration warning on bad weather.

The Captain of Ports may have permitted ‘MV Lucky 7’ to house at Verem bay, but the vessel is yet to complete the registration process.

The casino will be allowed to operate only once it has been registered under the Inland Vessels Act, officials said.
