Porvorim Rising is set to host the sixth edition of ‘NoMoZo’ on February 9, bringing the community together with a vibrant array of activities on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg. This annual event continues to celebrate fitness, sports, culture, heritage, local art, and crafts, offering something for every age group.
Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, IT, E&C, and Printing and Stationery in the Government of Goa, shared his thoughts on the event’s continued growth. “Despite the ongoing development work in Porvorim, we have ensured it will not affect the spirit of NoMoZo.”
He added, “This event has now become a people’s festival, and even with the change in venue this year, we remain committed to organising the event with the same energy and dedication. Our aim is to make this edition even more memorable, bringing together residents, local businesses, and visitors alike.”
Sonia Sanjay Pednekar, Sarpanch of Socorro Panchayat, added, “NoMoZo is an excellent example of how the community comes together to celebrate, share, and support each other. We look forward to seeing more people from our local community actively participate and make this event a grand success.”
The sixth edition will feature 12 engaging zones, such as the Kids Zone, Art Zone, Astronomy Zone, Heritage Zone, Performance/Dance Zone, Martial Art Zone, Health Zone, Youth Zone, IT/Science Zone, Fitness Zone, and the Boxing Zone. Each of these zones will introduce new and exciting activities, offering attendees a diverse experience that caters to all interests.
Adding to this, Ninil D’Souza, key organiser of NoMoZo, emphasised the introduction of new activities and their significance. “This year, we’ve added fresh elements in each zone, whether it’s in fitness, heritage, or innovation. These activities not only enhance the experience but also create opportunities for learning and engagement.”
“We’re excited to see how these new initiatives bring people together and help build lasting connections within our community.” He stated.
Swapnil Chodankar, Sarpanch of Penha de França Panchayat, shared his thoughts, saying, “NoMoZo is a wonderful initiative that truly strengthens our community spirit. The range of activities helps people of all ages connect and engage, making this event a highlight for our village.”
This year the Heritage Zone is designed to reconnect attendees with Goa’s cultural roots. The zone focuses on traditional and folk dances, indigenous art, craft, and local handiwork, providing a unique window into Goa’s vibrant traditions.
Similarly, the IT Zone will once again be a platform for showcasing local innovation, including live demonstrations of drone technology and 3D printing. It’s a fantastic opportunity for children and adults alike to learn, get inspired, and become part of Goa’s growing tech ecosystem. Last year’s overwhelming response has prompted the expansion of tech-based activities this time around.
Likewise, many other zones will host a variety of engaging activities, including sports, fitness, health awareness, and performances, ensuring there is something for everyone at NoMoZo 6.0.
In addition to the diverse zones, NoMoZo continues to offer a platform for individuals who wish to showcase their talent. Free stalls will once again be provided to support local vendors, giving them a space to engage with a wider audience and sell their products directly. This initiative reflects the event’s commitment to community growth, making it a festival that embraces diversity while supporting local businesses.
The event is expected to attract even larger crowds this year, building on the success of 2024, which saw over 25,000 attendees.
NoMoZo 6.0 focuses on offering an exciting day out for all. Whether you’re looking to try something new, learn about sustainable living, or simply enjoy Goa’s local culture, there will be something for everyone at this year’s NoMoZo.
