Inspired by his father, Mohan Mayenkar, an artist with a deep passion for photography, he grew up surrounded by cameras, creativity, and visual expression. Determined to pursue photography professionally, Siddesh enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), specialising in Photography, at the Goa College of Arts. His perspective evolved even further while working as a photojournalist. Covering news and events introduced him to Goa’s diverse communities, traditions, and cultural celebrations, nurturing a deep interest in festivals and documentary photography. Travelling across the state, he realised that many traditional occupations, rituals, and customs were gradually disappearing with time. This inspired him to document Goa’s cultural heritage through meaningful visual narratives, creating photographs that preserve history as much as they capture the present.
Looking Beyond Goa’s Beaches
While Goa is often represented through tourism campaigns centred around beaches and nightlife, Siddesh has consciously chosen to focus on another side of the state.
