Bollywood movies might breathe Mumbai but they love Goa. It won’t be too much to say that every director won’t mind or hesitate to capture some parts of Goa in their movie to enhance their films.

It’s a different thing if they chose to focus on the good or bad aspects of Goa. Even though Bollywood directors are more than happy to shoot abroad, Goa still remains a favorite destination for many out there.

Here is a list of 4 Bollywood movies that have scenes picturized from Goa.

  1. Golmaal series (2006-2010)

    The first on the list has to be the Golmaal series. Director of the movie, Rohit Shetty loves to shoot in Goa. He makes sure that most of his movies have some glimpses of the state. The Golmaal series has been shot in locations like the old GMC Complex in Panaji, Fort Aguada and Dona Paula. Golmaal is the fourth highest grossing film series in Bollywood. Shetty says, Goa has become his second home and would love to try to promote Goan talent in the films.

  2. Singham (2011)

    Another Goa centric movie would be Singham. A Rohit Shetty movie that was a huge hit. One of the most popular scenes shot in Goa was the action sequence at the Dona Paula Jetty. If you visit Dona Paula now, you will find so many stalls named ‘Singham’ across the lane of the same jetty!

  3. Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

    Dil Chahta Hai is one of those films that focused on the beauty of Goa. The film made the Chapora fort a famous tourist destination. Indian tourists still refer to it as the ‘Dil Chahta Hai fort’ and love to visit the same and click pictures there. Not many know that this film was directed by Farhan Akhtar which turned out to be a hit. The movie is based on the lives of three friends portrayed by Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna besides Dimple Kapadia and Preity Zinta. This film has also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.

  4. Dear Zindagi (2016)

    One of the latest movies, Dear Zindagi was shot in Goa! The film stars famous celebrities Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, which features the actors against the backdrop of beautiful beaches. Some scenes of the movie were filmed on secluded beaches like Benaulim Beach (Cycling Scene), Morjim Beach.

Goa Tourism has bagged the ‘Film Tourism Destination of the Year’ Award at the India International Travel Mart (IITM) and is a major achievement for film shootings in Goa.
