In the game of football you do not have to be a captain to be a leader on the pitch, that’s what this player showed us in the last season. Carrying the team and guiding them to an unforgettable and infamous final, the much loved star of last season is set to miss out on this season due to duties elsewhere.
Leo Moura, the name who everyone sang praises of is all set to be excluded from this season after initially agreeing to join the Goan Franchise, FC Goa for the 2016 season. All seemed to be running smoothly for the club, when suddenly they were left stunned as Leo Moura told them he won’t be available for the upcoming season.
FC Goa arrived in Brazil for their pre-season and were awaiting their international stars to join them at the team hotel when Leo Moura dropped a text to the entire team. The text read, “Friends, I want to inform everyone that unfortunately this year it won’t be possible to get together with you for ISL 2016. I wish you all a lot of luck and I will be rooting for all of you,” Moura.
According to sources Moura, 37 was eager to join FC Goa, but his parent club Santa Cruz Futebol Clube who are fighting for relegation in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A weren’t too keen on letting him go. All the Goans rooting for FC Goa will have to wait and see whether Leo Moura’s absence will have a great impact on last years losing finalists.
It was Leo Moura’s creativity last year which enhanced the Goan Franchise’s ability to create and score goals helping them to the finals. Leo Moura made fourteen appearances last season in the blue colours scoring two and creating eight goals for the team and was the first player to complete 500 passes last season.
With the international transfer window coming to a close on Wednesday, Zico is left with only out of contract players to choose from to replace the midfield maestro from last season.
