For the first time, the world’s most beautiful luxury train The Maharajas’ Express will grace Goan shores. From the yard of the Indian Railways (IRCTC), this Express train oozes opulence and elegance. It relives the era of the Maharajahs when elegance, red carpets, and high tea were the order of the day. On the 1st of July, 2017 the Maharajas’ Express will leave Trivandrum on its maiden journey along the Konkan coast through Goa.
“The luxury tour, aimed at the premium segment, will commence from Trivandrum on July 1 and culminate in Mumbai on July 8,” IRCTC Group General Manager S.S. Jagannathan said, according to Mumbai Mirror.
Accommodating about 88 guests, the 23-coach Maharajas’ Express, is well equipped with state-of-the-art amenities such as Wi-Fi in rooms, plasma TVs with satellite channels, DVD players and individual climate control ensuring premium luxury that even the maharajas would envy.
There are 14 passenger cabins aboard the Maharajas’ Express; 5 deluxe cabins, 6 junior suites, 2 suites, and the majestic presidential suite. All the cabins come equipped with either twin beds or a double bed along with direct-dial phones. (https://www.maharajas-express-india.com/facilities.html)
Boarding
Boarding at Trivandrum, the train takes you on an 8-day journey through some of the most coveted tourist spots in Southern India.
A new addition, ‘The Southern Jewels’ will course through Chettinad, Thanjavur, Mahabalipuram, Mysore, Hampi, via Goa to Mumbai along the Konkan coast. Some of the highlights of this tour are the magnificent mansions of Chettinad, UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mahabalipuram, splendid ruins of Hampi, the grandeur of the Mysore Palace, wonderful churches of Old Goa, and meals at special venues.
