These days most people are health and fitness conscious. People either join the gym, take Zumba classes, walk every morning or evening and even jog and run. Running is a great way to burn calories and lose weight. If done right. Some do it as part of a basic, daily routine while others strive to participate in marathons. While all this brings great satisfaction, there’s nothing like participating in a charity run or doing something for a good cause. The Rotary Rain Run is here so that you too can run for an excellent cause.

The Rotary Rain Run is back

In its 4th edition this year, the Rotary Rain Run has always been held in support of a cause backed by the Rotary Club of Porvorim. This year, it’s being organized as a major fundraising event to support the Flagship Community Service Activity of the Rotary Club of Porvorim – the Prakash Cancer Aid Project (PCAP) – Women Health | Education with 100% of the funds generated going to support this project.

This charity run will be held on the 29th of July, 2018. It commences at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Bambolim and will continue to Miramar via the University road and NIO Circle. The Rotary Rain Run will have three categories, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km (half marathon). The run is being held in support of early detection and cure of cervical and breast cancer in women.

“People should take up running to stay in good health and be fit. It is one of the best exercises,” states Parmar, while also sending out a few words of advice for running enthusiasts. “It is important to stay hydrated and take it easy. You are not running at this event to win. It is not about competing but completing it. While we do have awards, the run is more about supporting the cause of women health.”
